Who is eligible for Skybound funding?

Skybound considers applications from aspiring commercial pilots who meet baseline eligibility and readiness criteria for progression through our modular pilot training pathway toward ATPL.

Our role is to assess suitability, preparation, and commitment before candidates progress toward training delivered by partner organisations. Funding, where approved, is delivered through a regulated funding partner.

Baseline eligibility

To be considered, applicants must:

  • Be 17 or older at the time of application

  • Hold a UK or EU passport with the unrestricted right to live and work in the UK / Europe

  • Meet ICAO English Language Proficiency Level 4 or higher

  • Be eligible to obtain and maintain a Class 1 aviation medical

  • Demonstrate a genuine commitment to professional pilot training

No prior flight experience is required to apply.

What we assess during the application process

Eligible applicants progress through a structured assessment process designed to evaluate readiness for professional pilot training. This may include:

  • Fundamental aviation knowledge and learning capability

  • Cognitive aptitude relevant to flight training

  • Motivation, resilience, and long-term commitment

  • Professional conduct, communication, and reliability

Progression through each stage is conditional.

Funding and progression

Where approved, funding is delivered through a Future Earnings Agreement (FEA) administered by our regulated funding partner, StepEx.

Eligibility for funding is determined by the funding partner as part of the application and approval process. Skybound is not a lender and does not provide consumer credit.

There are no guarantees of funding or training outcomes.

Important notes

  • Meeting baseline eligibility does not guarantee progression or funding

  • Additional requirements may apply at later stages of the programme

  • Detailed assessment criteria are shared with candidates as they progress
